Find your Centre

Jan 28, 2023

In personal development and spiritual communities, buzzwords often get tossed around. They can be intimidating, overwhelming, or even triggering (that’s another buzzword 😝) for some. In a state of seeking answers and the desire to "move to the other side," individuals might miss experiencing the full extent of embodying (one more for you 😊) the meaning and expansion opportunities behind these words.

One such term for me was "find your centre" – a phrase frequently heard during yoga or meditation practices. I interpreted this as closing my eyes, going within my body to a place of peace, calm, and stillness. However, I'd often slip back into my “regular” frame of mind after leaving the class or finishing meditation. The idea of keeping in tune with my centre throughout the day or tapping back into it repeatedly was foreign to me. For a long time, I would only use tools like meditation or yoga to access “my centre". In these moments I permitted myself to tap into peace, calm, and stillness.

I didn’t initially connect “my centre” to my “inner self” despite years of personal development work and exploring various facets of spirituality. It took time for the dots to connect. Can anyone else relate?

The day I made the connection, my entire world shifted. I realized that my centre WAS my inner self, my soul, and my tigress energy. It felt like unlocking the most significant piece of the puzzle – a game-changer, incredibly expansive, and liberating. Since then, I consciously drop into my centre and let her lead as often as I can.

On good days she takes charge, and alignment in all areas of my life flows easily and naturally. I feel alive, energized, clear-headed, and I'm actively creating and living the life I want to live. On more challenging days, I need to consciously find my way back there (sometimes repeatedly) until I choose to work through the energy and obstacles hindering my true natural state. These redirection days are when growth happens, moving through lessons and emerging on the other side feeling lighter. 😊

Here are 11 key aspects of what it means to find your centre and tap into your inner self.

  1. Inner Harmony: Finding your centre involves seeking harmony within yourself—balancing the various aspects of your personality, emotions, and thoughts. It's about aligning your actions and choices with your true self.

  1. Mindfulness and Presence: Central to finding your centre is the practice of mindfulness, being fully present in the current moment without judgment. This practice encourages awareness of thoughts and feelings, fostering a deeper understanding of oneself.

  1. Authenticity: Discovering your centre  involves understanding and embracing your authentic self. This means acknowledging your values, passions, and unique qualities, and aligning your life choices accordingly.

  1. Spiritual Connection: In a spiritual context, finding your centre often implies establishing or deepening a connection with something greater than yourself—whether it's a higher power, the universe, or a collective consciousness. This connection can provide a sense of purpose and guidance.

  1. Emotional Equanimity: Finding your centre involves cultivating emotional resilience and balance. Instead of being swayed by external circumstances, you develop the ability to respond to challenges with calmness and equanimity.

  1. Self-discovery: The journey to finding your centre is often a process of self-discovery. This may involve exploring your beliefs, values, passions, and purpose in life. It's about uncovering layers of your identity and understanding what truly matters to you.

  1. Holistic Well-Being: Finding your centre extends beyond the mental and emotional aspects to include physical and spiritual well-being. It encompasses practices that nourish your body, mind, and soul, fostering a holistic approach to health.

  1. Balancing External and Internal Influences: As you find your centre you learn to navigate external influences while staying true to your inner compass. This involves setting boundaries, making conscious choices, and not being overly swayed by external opinions or societal expectations.

  1. Inner Peace: Ultimately, finding your centre leads to a sense of inner peace—a tranquil state of mind and heart. This inner peace becomes a source of strength, resilience, and contentment, regardless of external circumstances.

  1. Life Alignment: Finding your centre is about aligning your life with your values, aspirations, and spiritual beliefs. It involves making choices that resonate with your true self, leading to a more fulfilling and purposeful existence.

  1. Tapping into Creativity: Let your creative juices flow as you tap into your centre, letting that life force energy rise to the surface. Creativity is the magic spark that fuels your fire and allows your true nature to shine. Uninhibited creativity is a true expression of your soul.

Finding your centre is a transformative journey that goes beyond the buzzwords of personal development and spirituality. It's about tapping into your inner harmony, practicing mindfulness, and embracing authenticity. Connecting with your spiritual self, cultivating emotional resilience, and embarking on a continuous journey of self-discovery is the key to aligning with your inner self. May you find your centre and embrace the journey with open arms. It's a path of discovery, empowerment, and the vibrant expression of your true essence.
